Optimist Club of Milton
Sunday Night Cruises return for 2013 - Celebrating our 20th Anniversary (See Poster Below)
The Optimist Club of Milton had another great Milton Cruise season. Of the 14 nights, 3 were rainouts and had a total of 1472 vehicles on display over the 11 other evenings vs 1350 for 2011.
This year there was additional entertainment and special events going on: Barry Kory of the Milton Fire Department attended many evenings with some old Fire Trucks and his Volkswagon bug Herbie, Jay Santos of the Pro Modified Racing Association attended with his 1969 Pro Modified Camero, race crew and equipment, In addition Brian Bly of Waterdown and his VW race car came out to the event as well as Michael Merritt and his highly modified lawn tractors which, it seemed drew more of a crowd than the cars. In addition TV Cogeco was present and filmed of our Milton Cruise event which has been shown on Cable 14 and will be appearing again under a program called “Crash with Prash”.
A Special Thanks to our 28 sponsors who donated over $4000.00 worth of door prizes and 16 of them also helped fund costs of staging the events. Also thanks to Ken Carter of Milton Cruise who came in from Toronto every Sunday to be our MC, Optimist Ed Miedzybrocki who picked up the cargo trailer every Sunday and helped set up the PA system etc. plus Optimist Gary Price for being there every Sunday and providing food for the spectators. Gary also made a donation to the Milton Hospital Auxiliary on the last evening.
In addition to the above the Milton Cruise Team will be donating $1,200.00 to the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary from donations collected each evening.
Thanks to Optimists Bill Manuel and Ron Hudd for co-chairing the event and everyone else that came out to assist on Sunday nights. Stay tuned to see what they have up there sleeves to make the 2013 cruises even better. We look forward to more successful Cruise Nights in the summer of 2013.
