What Is the Moose Race?

It’s like the Kentucky Derby… but fuzzier.

Imagine the thrill of the track — but with large wooden mooses (Mooses are 30” plush stuffed toys sitting on wooden pedestals), giant fuzzy dice, and a room full of people cheering for victory.

Presented by the Optimist Club of Milton, this is our signature fundraising event of the year. It’s a night of high energy, friendly competition, and community spirit.

The Cause

All proceeds support the Optimist Dream Kitchen, food deliveries for those in need, local initiatives supporting those in need in the Milton community, Milton District Hospital Auxiliary and the Townsend Smith Foundation.

The Evening Lineup

  • 5:00 PM The Paddock Opens: Viewing of the Mooses, Cocktails, and Silent Auction bidding.
  • 6:00 PM The Feast: A Gourmet Buffet prepared by the Optimist Dream Kitchen team under Chef Brandon Bousfield. Menu includes Halal and Vegan options plus a dessert table.
  • Post-Dinner The Races: The bugle sounds! A double-elimination tournament powered by the roll of the dice.
